Use the age your child turns this calendar year, even if the birthday is still ahead.
The age when you plan to begin using education savings. Must be later than this year’s age.
Current balance for this child across all RESPs, including prior contributions, grants and growth. This projection assumes this year’s contributions have not yet been made.
The amount you plan to contribute each calendar year. Contributions are capped at the remaining $50,000 lifetime room.
Your assumed annual investment return after fees. This is an illustration, not a forecast; losses are possible.
Adjusted family net income used for additional CESG eligibility. The estimate holds your income and the 2026 thresholds constant.
All personal contributions ever made for this child across every RESP. Exclude grants and investment growth. Withdrawals do not restore contribution room.
Total basic and additional CESG already paid for this child across every RESP. Do not include the Canada Learning Bond or provincial grants.
Unused basic CESG grant dollars from earlier years, confirmed by your provider. This is grant room, not contribution dollars. Use 0 if unknown for a conservative estimate.
Yes means at least $2,000 contributed and not withdrawn before the end of the year the child turns 15, or at least $100 contributed and not withdrawn in four earlier calendar years. Confirm with your provider. Future projected contributions can also satisfy the $2,000 condition.
Total education funding you want available when studies begin, in future Canadian dollars. Include tuition and living expenses; this calculator does not inflate the target.

Assumptions and limitations
Starts before this calendar year’s contributions; do not include those contributions or grants twice. Projects full calendar years from the age the child turns this year until the year before the chosen start age. Assumes Canadian residency and an eligible RESP/SIN throughout. Contributions and grants are added at each year-end after investment growth. Basic CESG is 20% of contributions, normally up to $500 per year, or up to $1,000 using entered unused basic grant room. New basic room of $500 accrues each eligible year through age 17. Additional CESG on the first $500 is 20% for adjusted family net income up to $58,523, 10% up to $117,045, and zero above, using 2026 thresholds held constant for this illustration. Basic and additional CESG together cannot exceed $7,200 over the child’s lifetime. At ages 16–17, grants require at least $2,000 contributed and not withdrawn before the end of age 15, or $100 in each of four earlier years. Select Yes only if your provider confirms this; the estimate also qualifies future years if this projection contributes at least $2,000 before age 16. Future contributions stop at the $50,000 lifetime limit across all plans; grants do not use contribution room. No withdrawals or grant repayments are modelled. Assumed return after fees is constant and may be negative; it is not guaranteed. Excludes future Canada Learning Bond payments, provincial incentives, education-cost inflation and withdrawal taxes. Include existing bond and provincial grants in the current balance. Income thresholds, future income, grant timing and rules may change. Confirm balances, contribution history and unused grant room with your RESP provider.
