A useful next step
Avalanche directs extra money to the highest rate; snowball targets the smallest balance. Compare both using a budget you can sustain. Try increasing your budget by $50, then compare the total interest and payoff timeline.
How this estimate works
Fixed rates, no new borrowing or fees. Interest accrues monthly at annual rate ÷ 12 and is rounded to cents. Minimum payments are the fixed dollar amounts you enter, capped at the remaining amount due. Real card minimums, daily interest, promotional rates and payment timing may differ. Your budget must cover all modelled minimums each month. After minimums, remaining funds target the selected priority; unused funds flow to the next debt immediately. Paid-off minimums remain in the strategy budget. The minimum-only baseline pays each fixed minimum until that debt is repaid and does not roll freed payments into other debts. The scheduled increase is a single permanent addition from the selected month, not an annual increase. The model is capped at 1,200 months and does not report lifetime totals for unfinished plans. Figures are estimates, not creditor settlement amounts. Check statements and seek qualified help if required payments are unaffordable.
Educational estimates only, not financial, legal or lending advice, an offer, approval or eligibility decision. Confirm terms, costs and affordability with your lender. Amounts are Canadian dollars.
